StickWiki
StickyWiki documents Philadelphia's vibrant street sticker culture—an often overlooked but significant layer of our city's visual landscape. We're building a digital archive of these ephemeral works before weather, cleanup crews, and time erase them from public memory.
Mission Statement
StickyWiki serves as a window into Philadelphia's vibrant underground sticker scene:
- Documenting ephemeral art that might otherwise go unnoticed and unrecorded
- Connecting the dots between artists, neighborhoods, and visual styles
- Mapping how these small works transform and reflect our urban environment
- Creating a historical record of this distinctive form of street expression
As the creator of StickyWiki, I've always appreciated these small acts of creativity and rebellion. Each sticker represents an artist's determination to leave their mark, however temporary. This project is my way of celebrating that spirit while creating something lasting from what's inherently fleeting.
What are Slaps?
Slaps are adhesive stickers created by artists throughout Philadelphia. They range from professional die-cut vinyl productions to hand-drawn designs on postal labels and everything in between—screen-printed editions, laser cuts, modified commercial stickers, and quick marker tags. Each format carries its own aesthetic and reflects the artist's resources, style, and intent. The term "slap" comes from the quick motion used to apply them, making them one of the most accessible and widely distributed forms of street art.
Who runs it?
Just me the creator. You can call me the Adhesive Archivist. I am a technologist, maker and advid street art fan living in Old City. There's no company behind StickyWiki. This is a personal project and receives no funding and is not monetized in any way.
